Blocking Drill
- Setup:Arrange 3 cones in a triangle, spaced 10 meters apart. Place 5 balls at the top of the triangle. Position 3 players at the bottom: one at each cone and one in the middle.
- Drill Execution:
- The working player starts at the top of the triangle and plays a ball to the middle player (between the two cones at the bottom).
- The working player sprints to close down the middle player with the ball.
- The middle player then passes the ball left or right to one of the players at the cones.
- The working player must react quickly, adjust their position, and attempt to block the kick from the receiving player.
- After blocking (or attempting to), the working player resets and repeats the process with the next ball, until all 5 balls have been used.
- Rotation:After completing all 5 balls, switch roles to give another player a chance to work on their blocking.
This drill emphasizes quick reactions, efficient movement, and accurate blocking technique, as well as conditioning and recovery between efforts.
